The award winning theatre company, Dogwood Productions, is returning to Woodhall Spa on Sunday the 21st of September with its new show Honestly.
Local theatre goers will remember their Facing The Waves musical from its visit last autumn before the show transferred to the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith. The new production is a drama described as entertaining, dark, humorous and timely and is on the unlikely subject of compulsive lying.
Compulsive lying can be a symptom of a mental health issue, but in Chloe’s case: is it a condition or a con; is she villain or victim, deserving of care or incarceration? Chloe has never been content with one life: if you’re not happy with this one, she says, why not make up a new one? And she has and they come to life during the show.
Taking influences from true life stories where young women in their 20s have mysteriously re-enrolled for school without the authorities recognising the fraud. Chloe is undoubtedly in trouble, having already been found guilty of a number of deceptions. Her future is in the hands of Emma, the young psychologist who has the task of writing a report for the court. But where does she start when Chloe is such a skilled liar?
The performance is at St Peter’s Hall, Woodhall Spa on the 21st and tickets are £15 (£8 Under18) and available from The Book Fayre, The Broadway, Woodhall Spa LN10 6ST or online at https://www.dogwoodproductions.co.uk/honestly
Dogwood Productions specialises in new writing, taking its work to community venues, art centres and theatres, including the RSC at Stratford, and being transmitted on both BBC Radio 4 and the World Service.
The play is intended for general audiences with an advisory 12+ years age.
