Heritage Trail Location 12

Photo 1 – A view of Cornwall Terrace (pre 1898) from the southwest taken from Tattershall Road. The gates of the railway crossing can be seen on the left and the Royal Hotel complex just beyond on the right hand side of the road (postcard from the Webmaster's collection).

During the 2nd World War Mr. and Mrs. Harriman (owners of the Teahouse in the Woods) lived in number 2. It was badly damaged by the parachute mine which hit the adjacent Royal Hotel and it had to be rebuilt. The Harrimans wanted to take the opportunity to modernise the property, but Government regulations of the time dictated that it was rebuilt exactly as before.

The trail can be started at any location, but we suggest you also visit the Cottage Museum to see the photographs taken by John Wield during the heyday of the Spa and items associated with this unique Victorian Spa town.

The Trail is just one of several projects in the hands of the Woodhall Spa Parish Council sponsored Heritage Committee. Click here if you are interested in the committee or their projects.
