Children's Play Area

Pirate Ship in the children's play area at Sutton on SeaThe current childrens play area was installed only 10 years ago, but it could do with an upgrade. This pirate ship is in the play area at Sutton on Sea. It was installed by ELDC. Take a look at these websites of companies manufacturing and installing equipment for 'young people'

Provision for young people (12-16 year olds)

The Youth Shelter recently installed by Lincolnshire Police outside Coronation Hall Provision for young people can take many forms, but some of the ideas under discussion for Jubilee Park are a youth shelter, multi-use games area and a climbing wall. Facilities for young people, such as these, are often referred to as 'teenage villages'. To gain a clearer understanding of what a Teenage Village, Youth Shelter and Multi Use Games Area are please visit the linked websites listed below, and mostly importantly read the two articles. The first article is by Thames Valley Police and the second by Rekk, a company that manufactures and installs youth shelters (note: these are PDF files):

Fitness Trail

Fitness Trail at Sutton on SeaThis fitness trail includes equipment similiar (but more robust) to what you would find in a fitness suite. It is alongside the multi-use sport area and play park at Sutton on Sea. Perhaps the Pinewoods could be part of the trail.

This is one of the companies manufacturing fitness trail equipment:

Cycling

The newly completed Water Rail Way at Southrey, a few miles north of Woodhall SpaJubilee Park has 'toyed' with cycle hire for many years, however, the Water Rail Way is due completion in 2007. This will create a safe off road route along the river bank from Lincoln to Kirkstead Bridge.. There is also an aspiration to upgrade the Spa Trail from Horncastle to Woodhall Spa. Both routes could be linked with Jubilee Park to make the ideal start and finish point for a cycle ride (Parking, refreshments, swimming).

Fairy Dell, SkegnessThe Fairy Dell Paddling Pool, Skegness.

The Fairy Dell, built by Skegness Urban District Council in 1929, reopened in 2006 after a refurbishment programme. ELDC tried to close it, but eventually had to bow to public pressure for it to remain open. Meanwhile the Sunshine padding pool north of the pier has been filled in - to make a flower bed. Note the new sand coloured 'soft' pool surrounds and the water features.

Swimming Pool

On Tuesday, 29th August 2006, nine members of the 'Friends' group travelled to Hampstead Heath, London to visit Parliament Hill Lido. The pool is approximately 70 x 28 metres and unheated. In 2004/5 £2.9m was invested in a refurbishment including relining the pool bottom with stainless steel (the first Lido in the UK to receive such treatment). This not only eliminates leaking and repairs but brings the water up to deck level, which is aesthetically pleasing and effective in skimming off scum from sun lotion.

A stainless steel liner could be the long term solution for Jubilee Park swimming pool
