Woodhall Spa - Christmas Fayre 2007

Every year the Christmas Fayre is organised entirely by the Rotary Club of Woodhall Spa and is supported by Woodhall Spa Parish Council. The fayre is a popular and major event for both the village and surrounding area.

Over 4,000 people attended last year and the evening is eagerly anticipated by everyone, young and old, particularly the children as it signals the beginning of the Christmas Season.

The Christmas lighting this year was expanded and extended from Royal Square, through the Millennium Garden and along 'The Broadway' to provide a cheerful background to the festivities. There were more than a dozen street events and many stalls from charities and traders through to children's rides.

Fairground ride

There was also a traditional Carol Service in Royal Square with music provided by the Banovallum Brass band. Santa Claus arrived on his sleigh and greeted children in his icy grotto opposite the Post Office. Santa was kept busy all evening!

In the street there were a variety of entertainments including the Kesteven Morris Men, a magician, clowns, bell ringers, face painters and Mr Harness's wonderful Fairground Organ. There was an abundance of food from hot mince pies, hot dogs, burgers together with mulled wine and even hot chocolate laced with Baileys.

Most shops and local businesses were open late to welcome customers and visitors to the Spa.

Shop windows were decorated and the Christmas tree and lights were switched on by Radio Lincolnshire's own Alan Stennett. Alan judged the best large window display and the best small window display.
