10km Road Race & 3km Fun Run - 10 Jun 2012

The Woodhall Spa 10K has established itself as one of the premier runs in the region with athletes coming from all across the Midlands and indeed the entire country to compete on this flat course through the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. The 10K Run is expected to attract some 1100 athletes in 2012, many of whom will be first time 10K competitors and of a wide age range. In fact the numbers at our event have doubled over only the last few years. The 10K Run is open to both runner and wheelchair competitors.

The time and date of the event is: Sunday 10th June 2012 starting at 11 o’clock.

There is a 3 mile fun run held at the same time and place for the less ambitious runner.

To enter the 10K please do one of the following:

a. Download the attached PDF file fill it in; and then, sent it in.
b. Send a SAE to: Woodhall Spa 10K Road Race, 2 Hoylake Drive , Woodhall Spa, Lincs. , LN10 6WA . …and we’ll then send you the form for you to complete
c. Enter on-line through the Runners World Magazine (you will pay a little extra for doing it this way), At: www.runnersworld.co.uk
d. Or, turn-up on the day and register. We will hold some places back for people who have not pre-registered but these places will be limited. We’ll keep you posted on the website as to likely number of places available for on the day registration. The Late Entries Desk in at the Cricket Pavilion in Jubilee Park (it is well signed). You will pay a late entry fee for doing it this way.

Frequently asked questions:

Q: If I turn-up on the day will I be definitely able to run?
A: No, we will have some places available for those who have not pre-registered, but we cannot guarantee you a place. Best to be on the safe side and pre-register (see above for how to do this).

Q: How do I enter the 3 Mile Fun Run?
A: Simply register on the day. We don’t take registrations in advance for the 3 Mile Fun Run.

Q: Are there age limits for entering?
A: 3 Mile Fun Run: no – all welcome. 10K Road Race: yes – 15 years and over.

Q: If I’m a slow runner am I going to be right at the back and embarrassed?
A: No, not at all. We have a very wide range of competitors of all ages and speeds. A good many will be first time 10K event runners.

Q: How do you tell us the results?
A: These will be posted on this site by the evening after the 10k.

Q: If I do need to ask anything else who do I contact?
A: Contact the Event Organiser: Peter Lee. E-mail address: petersmail@btinternet.com

Q: How can I find out what the course is?
A: See the map of the course (pdf file) on the site.

Q: How do I get informed about the details of the event?
A: When you register we’ll send you instructions, chip along with your number. You will get this pack in late May.

Q: How do the chips work?
A: The chip we will send you along with you number and instructions. You attach it to your shoe. By running across the start mat and the finish mat the computer registers the chip and thereby records your time. In fact, you’ll get two times: Gun Time – timed from when the gun starts the race to when you cross the finish line; and, Personal Time – timed from when you cross the start line and then cross the finish line. You must hand in the chip after the event. If you lose your chip or fail to bring it on Race Day your time will not be recorded (we cannot replace chips).

Q: What do you spend my entry fee on?
A: Your fee is spent on the costs of organising the event and then any profits go to local good causes (if you would like details of these local good causes we’ll gladly give you details). All the people involved in organising the event are volunteers and give their time free.

Q: What happens if I forgot to put a stamped addressed envelope in with my application?
A: We will hold your chip here for you to collect on the day at the Late Entries desk.

Q: I haven’t received my instructions but I can see my name on the list with the comment “Report to Late Entries” – why is this?
A: For a number of reasons..

You didn’t send us a SAE

The SAE you sent didn’t have the correct stamp or no stamp at all

Your entry form wasn’t completed properly

We had to pay a revenue protection fee to the Post Office because you hadn’t used the correct stamp; and, we need that paying please.
